The NHS in Gloucestershire is reassuring everyone over 18 who is eligible for a COVID-19 booster that they will receive an invitation from local NHS services to book in for their vaccination soon. Please do not contact GP surgeries at this time.
This comes as the Government has confirmed that all adults should be offered a booster by the end of December in an effort to limit the spread of the Omicron variant.
In Gloucestershire, the NHS is working through the options with health and care partners to deliver this ambitious accelerated programme.
There are currently three ways to access a COVID vaccination in Gloucestershire:
- Via appointment at a GP-led primary care network vaccination centre – The bulk of vaccinations continue to be provided by appointment through the 11 primary care network community vaccination centres across the county. Please note that these appointments are not available on the national booking system (NBS), people will receive an invite directly from local NHS services to book when it’s their turn.
- Via the national booking system – some people may choose to book an appointment at one of 8 community pharmacies across the county using the NBS telephone number and website (www.nhs.uk/covidvaccination or call 119).
- At a drop-in clinic – drop-in clinics will continue at some community vaccination sites through December, offering boosters for people aged over 40, 12-15-year olds – first doses, and first and second vaccinations. Dates (including any new ones) and any changes to eligibility for future drop-in sessions will be available on the local NHS COVID portal.
This is an extremely busy time for local NHS services and we are grateful for the public’s support, their patience and understanding as health and care staff continue to pull out all the stops to support the vaccination programme.
Keep in touch with the latest news and developments through the local NHS COVID portal.
